The Speaker

"FROM TRAGIC LAWNMOWER ACCIDENT AT 6 TO WORLD RENOWN MUSICIAN AND SPEAKER."

Who is Jermaine Morgan?

A normal day at his grandma’s home near Houston Mississippi would change Jermaine’s life forever.  He was just 6 years old when made a careless mistake of playing in front of a lawnmower. This caused him to lose his left heel. Due to this accident, Jermaine would undergo 50+ reconstructive surgeries throughout his youth. This seemingly tragic experience was actually working out the trajectory of his life and career choices.

Growing up poor in a small town definitely had it’s setbacks with regards to career choices. With limited physical options, Jermaine naturally gravitated towards music. He grew up watching his mother and older brother play music for the local church. That passion and curiousity to learn music took precedence in Jermaine’s life as he grew older and became more skilled.

Jermaine Morgan has a real world approach to teaching music, performance and marketing in the global music arena. His success as a songwriter, musician, engineer and producer provides him with the necessary skills to inspire and equip a new generation of musicians.

Jermaine decided to fully pursue music after years of studying and working as a part-time musician. He moved to Atlanta where he pursued a professional music career. This move afforded him many opportunities to work and record with various artists and play on many stages. Most notably, Jermaine served for 12 years as the bass player and later music director for one of Atlanta’s premier mega-churches, New Birth M.B. Church.

While at New Birth, Jermaine was exposed to some of the top orators from around the world. These life-altering events happened while attending seminars, workshops, and various functions. These speakers included Bishop T.D. Jakes, Myles Munroe, Creflo Dollar, Bishop Tudor Bismark, Bishop Dale Bronner, and Bishop Eddie Long to name a few.

Jermaine Morgan held a clinic at Northwest Ms Community College for our Entertainment Industry Studies students, during which he shared his experiences as a student, educator and performer.  In between stories and questions, Jermaine shared his phenomenal bass skills with us.  It was a great experience for our students to hear and meet Jermaine.

“Don’t focus on the negativity that’s in front of you”.

– Jermaine Morgan

Jermaine also traveled several years on the road with Stellar Award-Winning gospel rap artist Canton Jones and Billboard-charting smooth jazz saxophonist Jeff Sparks. Inspired by his newfound success, and prompted to inspire others, he begins traveling back to his home state of Mississippi where he starts Music Matters. With this initiative, he begins to visit various schools sharing with aspiring musicians about taking their music seriously.

This message of hope and encouragement became so infectious that he was invited back to various places to share with entire student bodies. As word spread about these events, Jermaine began receiving more invitations to share his message to Colleges and Universities. What initially started as “Music Matters” morphed into motivational speaking. This speaking now extends beyond the reach of musicians. As a result, Jermaine has developed an even greater passion to share his life-changing message of hope.

“My ultimate goal is to motivate, encourage and inspire as many people as I can. Also to help raise the level of integrity and accountability!”

I am an assistant principal at Tupelo High School in Tupelo, MS.  Jermaine is a talented individual who is extremely passionate about music.  He has the ability to speak to any audience and that audience will come alive.  We had him speak to our band students about the opportunities that exists as well as our students with disabilities.  They all benefited from his gift.

“Greetings to all from Louisville, MS! I am Chawan Jernigan,  a teacher and faculty choir advisor for our Louisville, MS School District. A few years back, I contacted Jermaine to speak to our students about careers in music and other topics that can make a positive impact on their futures. In addition to that, he performed a live concert that was talked about for years later. Jermaine imparted invaluable information to our students that day about music, perseverance,  entrepreneurship ,and many other topics that high school students in our area need to hear from a professional. He agreed to come without hesitation.  Thanks for sharing your gift with the upcoming generations, and we wish you only the greatest success in all of your future endeavors!”
